The Wildlife Commission recently approved a big game structure for 2003 that will allow more either-sex licenses for the first rifle season and an extra weekend for hunters during the second big game rifle season.

Colorado has more than 300,000 elk, more than any other state or Canadian province. Ideally Division of Wildlife biologists would like to see the herd at about 240,000.
